Chocolate Chip American Pancakes


The perfect recipe for your pancake fix, this recipe reminds you of all the best lazy Saturday mornings. The added chocolate chips are the cherry on top of this classic recipe.


Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Cook Time: 5 Minutes

Total Time: 20 Minutes

Yield: 6 large pancakes


Special Equipment: frying pan and whisk.


Ingredients:


150g self-raising flour

1 tsp Baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

15g melted butter

2 eggs

150g buttermilk

1 tsp vanilla

50g chocolate chips


Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt with a whisk.

  2. Add the melted butter and the milk; mix until combined.

  3. Add the eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.

  4. Preheat your frying pan on a medium heat with a small amount of oil.

  5. Pour your batter into the pan and evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top of the batter. Using your spatula tap the batter over the chocolate chips to cover them.

  6. Cook your pancake until you see bubbles coming through the top of the pancake and not filling back in, flip your pancake over and cook for another 2 minutes.

  7. Serve with maple syrup and fresh berries.

Tips:

  1. Don't like chocolate? Then go ahead and add in salted caramel chunks, white chocolate, berries or sprinkles for a celebration!

  2. Don't turn your pan on too hot, this will make the pancakes cook faster, but it will also cause them to burn.
