Deep Fried Oreos


Super quick, easy and fun to do with the kids! This delicious treat never disappoints!




Prep time - 20mins

Cook time - 3mins per Oreo

Total time- 30-45 mins




Special Equipment: deep fryer or cast iron pot and a slotted spoon


Ingredients:


140g Plain flour

30g Sugar

1tbsp Baking powder

½ tsp salt

280g Milk

1 Egg

60g Butter

2tsp Vanilla

1 pack of Oreos


Directions:

  1. To create the batter mix all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl

  2. Melt the butter.

  3. Warm the milk so its lukewarm

  4. Mix all wet ingredients together in a separate mixing bowl.

  5. Add half of the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stir to combine. Add the rest of the wet ingredients and stir to fully incorporate.

  6. Once mixed with no lumps, put into the fridge for 10 mins with cling film lightly pressed against the surface.

  7. While chilling, heat up the oil to 175 degrees to fry the oreos. Oil should be 7-10 cm in a pot if not using a deep fryer.

  8. Once the oil is hot, dip each oreo in batter (shake off any excess) then put into the oil.

  9. Fry until golden, this should take roughly 3mins each oreo.

  10. Once fried place on a few sheets of kitchen roll to absorb any excess oil.

Tips:

  1. Try different variations of oreos or add cocoa powder to the batter for a chocolate flavour.

  2. Serve hot with a dusting of powdered sugar for a little extra sweetness.
